No, it doesn't. There's currently a big furor going on between the EC
and the US over Internet privacy ... the EU has much tighter privacy
legislation and regulation than the US.

A lot of that sort of stuff seems historically to have been left for
the courts to sort out, as opposed to having the legislatures sort it
out. My cynical suspicion is that the politicos feared they'd step on
too many toes if they waded into that swamp, figuring that leaving it
to the "apolitical" judiciary would keep their smocks clean. :-)
