Ralph, in spite of what I wrote earlier, I actually agree.
This has been my main reason for getting a *ist D.
Any alternative would have been so much more expensive (would mean new
lenses, flashes, bellows etc.). The benefits of some other brand DSLR, would
have been very difficult to justify economically. I don't regret having
bought one. I shot 20.000 frames with it in 14 months. It has actually paid
for it self by now. I have had very few problems. I lost a few good shots
due to the slow AF or the small buffer. I can live with that. But I lost
more shots by making my own opereating errors.

Today there is the DS, the DS2 and the DL to consider as well.
I'll probably not even get a the future *ist D replacement, even if it has
significant improvements.
The D covers my needs 85-90 % of the time.

I can't think of a single reason not to, especially if you own K mount
lenses.
