Read DIRECTLY on... I probably typoed in such a way that spell check thought I meant direction and I didnt notice > > >...on a piece of polarized material... > > Like what? Can you either be more generic or more specific? I don't know > of "polarized material" that isn't attached to eyeglasses! really? You can buy it by the sheet... and if your piece of jewelry is small enough you can just use your filter. I got my polarizing gel at B and H I think. Don't you use a polarizer when you shoot color film? > > >...on the flat bed... > > On the glass that a document is normally placed on? Yup > How does the light get thru the "polarized" material and reflected back > to the sensor? Hmmmm. The light is coming from underneath. A flatbed is just like using a camera with a very narrow DOF. If your flatbed and subject are dust free you get great quality stuff. > > >...and leaving the lid up. > > Now, *I'd* catch hades for that at home! > > keith LOL! NOT _THAT_ LID ... ! Actually, I didn't leave the lid up on one I did of the ladybug. which see (not my best effort but it worked to show off the piece well enough) http://users.rcn.com/annsan/ladybugpin.jpg The most taxing thing is being careful not to scratch the flat bed. annscan
