Somehow, the notion of having a "Leica vs Contax" RF flame fest on the PENTAX mailing list is even stupider and more ridiculous than the incessant ruminations on this on the various Leica and Contax mailing lists.

Too true. Good thing I wasn't starting one, isn't it.

The Contax RF lens mount, however, has seen no new lenses designed for it in many years. To me, the existing body of Leica M-bayonet and Leica thread mount lenses available new and used speak strongly in favor of sticking with these mounts.

You're absolutely right. Besides which, the variety available is much larger anyhow!

As to lens performance, well, let's not even start with that.

Well, okay by me, if that's the way you want it, no problem at all! All I know is what I read...

BTW: I owned Leica, Contax, Kiev and Nikon RF cameras, along with a modest selection of various lenses for all of them. They all made excellent photographs, when in good condition. They all have their amusing foibles and eccentricities. I have no particular preference for Leica over Contax, or vice versa.

Nor me, but I will say, based on such a shaky database as my personal experiences, I'd put the best of my Pentax lenses alongside the best of Leica and Contax lenses I've used.
Pentax glass is excellent!
