Hi Godfrey, Yes - that makes sense. I've been shooting with it at f/5.6 and smaller where possible and it's been very good. I'm also having issues with my specs and this camera at the moment, which I think has contributed to my occasional focus problems with this lens. Ciao, Peter in Sydney
