I have no idea where things stand in the U.S. regarding digital radio.
I did just buy a Grundig Satellit 800 Millennium 2 1/2 years back,
solely for shortwave. If that goes into obsolescence within the next 5
years... I'll be mad.

Prepare to be really, really pissed off, I'm afraid. You should be able
to find some information on the net. I am just repeating what was told
to me after my recent trips into Europe, where I couldn't find the
stations I normally use and was told that they had been closed down
because "most people" were listening to them on digital radio through
their computer.
