I'll second that. All I depend on the scanner software for is a good raw scan, so the multi-pass scans is/was the major advantage I found to the old Vuescan I have. It's been probably 6 months since I've made a scan but if I remember correctly the new Minolta software includes some of the mutipass scan abilities now. I still haven't used the new Vuescan yet.

IMHO both the scanner and the supplied software are quite capable (all essential tools are there - levels, curves, selective color correction, exposure control etc.) and resolution and dynamic range are comparable with much more expensive scanners (I do have some experience with scans from Linotype-Hell/Heildelberg/Crossfield drum scanners and from AgfaScan XY-15 high-end flatbed). All my recently posted PAWs were scanned on Konica Minolta Dimage Scan Dual IV using the supplied software (under MacOS X).

The testing I've done with the driver for my Multi Pro indicates that most adjustments are best left for Photoshop. The only driver control I set these days is exposure, and I have to be extremely careful to avoid clipping the highlights. I also use 4x oversampling and dICE. The extra scanning time is worth it.
