I don't know about other people, but the word
professional actually puts me off cameras. No way am I
a professional. I would probably describe myself as a
semi-serious hobbyist who is becoming more serious by
the minute.
When I hear the word professional attached to a camera
that maybe I was going to buy, It makes me think "S---
Jody, are you crazy? What are you doing?". It scares
me to think that I am buying a "professional" camera.
Shouldn't they just be for people who actually make a
living from photography?
For eample: When I first saw the LX, I knew I had to
have one. Then I heard that dirty word "professional"
attached to it. My dad even said it sounded like a
"professional" camera, purely from the verbal
desription I gave him. So then I started panicking,
thinking I'm not ready for a "professional" camera. It
took me a long time to get over that. Now I have an LX
on the way (sorry to gloat again) and I have realised
that "professional" is just a word, and I shouldn't
let that one word put me off a camera I really want.
Jody.
