Very revealing tests. The Pentax shows nasty chromatic aberration. I think I'll have to sell something (big) soon. Micro and Macro are the only things that really interest me these days.

Does anyone have experience with any of these gorgeous
new SL lenses from Voigtlander?

I do and I am enthusiastic about my 125/2.5 APO (as mentioned by those who have read my rants before) however I'd hardly call it new since I purchased my copy Feb 2002 :-)

I’ve just received the 90mm F/3.5 SL APO-Lanthar (from
Stephen Gandy, whose website is above) and build
quality is absolutely gorgeous! This is a heavy lens,
which I like, but it does make a K1000 front-heavy. ZX-10/-50 are also front heavy but balance OK in my
hands with battery grip in place. (This reminds me
how I'd like to get a K2 or K2DMD...) Balance is fine
on a PZ-1p ...though what an odd sight.

Design, performance and build quality is exceptional on my lens however QC wasn't great, the infinity focus point was quite badly mis-adjusted (so it never could focus to infinity). Since this problem was remedied it's performed flawlessly though.

I have not tried it out yet so I don’t know about the
performance. It is tempting to have both these and
Pentax’s limited lenses available!

Optical performance was so good (even visible though the finder of my LX) that I sold my A*100/2.8 Macro soon after, and then my K135/2.5 and later my A*135/1.8 so it actually saved me money in the end :-)

Anyone else have experience or interest with these
seemingly idiosyncratic lenses?

I wouldn't call them idiosyncratic more eccentric. In any case my lens is a great performer and I'd be surprised if any other lens in the range didn't compare in build and performance. For a practical head to head comparison of the SMC Pentax-A* 135mm 1:1.8 and the Voigtländer Macro APO-Lanthar 125mm F2.5 SL, see:
