Some years back I did a similar thing with a couple or three 
vegetables.
An experienced photog suggested that I use a well worn cutting board
surface and the oldest wood handled stained knife I could fine. I did
and agreed that it, probably, added to the interest of the scene.
No longer have the shot.
If you were going to work this image some more, IMO, it could use a bit
more space.
