I don't have a D but I compared the D and DS briefly for a bit when I was in the UK last June, my friend Richard has the D. To my casual test, there was very little difference in focusing performance with the same lens.

Curiously, Richard finds the D a much more satisfying camera, to the point where he bought and sold a DS. Where I prefer the controls and operation of the DS, but would be pretty happy with either.

Sorry to run this thread slightly off-topic, but how does the accuracy and efficiency of the DS compare to the D?

Am I missing out on a lot, by not having the D?

To me, the DS doesn't seem too bad. I tried it in continuous mode the other day, and I thought it did better than I would have in MF. Then again, I'm slow and meticulous by nature. :)

thanks,
