I'd say a much brighter future, if Samsung grow the K-mount database, than the current situation. I just don't see Pentax being able to do anything more than survive at best if they only have their current market as a basis.
Pentax may be able to leverage the Pentax brand at the high end, but only if they get enough market share to survive.
