As far as I know Carl Zeiss have been arround longer than anybody on this list - for a century or so. It's one of the miost successful lens manufacturers ever. Carl Zeiss have made and sold top quality lenses from the beginning until today. I guess they know what they are doing. Digital is fine but extreemly expensive, excluding a lot of professionals around the world. I - for one - tend to keep forgetting, that people of this list may very well belong to the richest 5 % of the worlds population. A lot of people - me included -can't afford a 30000 USD digital Hasselblad. Until I can I will get along just fine, using a cheaper 6x6 camera for high quality/resolution photographs.

I would venture that if Zeiss has just introduced a new film camera (it looks nice and $$$$), they have a vested interest in thinking film will be around for a while. Besides, it's not just about if film is available, it's also about if film processing will be available. William Robb
