Depends on which one. Vivitar is a marketing company, not a lens maker, and their lenses have come from a number of different suppliers at different times. Some are excellent, some just good, and some really mediocre. Somewhere on the internet there is a page that lets you know who made what by serial number, but I lost the URL in a computer theft. Maybe someone here has that URL.
