Parsing minutiae are we? Unlike you, I've never, ~ever~ ~held~ a Nikon, so 
why would I know what is what about them or when what F model came out? 
Notwithstanding your fact, the camera in question ~was~ a Nikon "F" 
something, that is all that is important.
But you already knew the story (legend) about the Nikon, right?
