I found the DA16-45 to be an excellent performer where the DA18-55
seemed somewhat lacking in contrast wide open as well as a bit too
slow. However, it's much larger/heavier than the DA18-55. Ultimately,
I find I prefer the FA20-35 as my wide zoom.
I only have a little experience with the FA24-90; given the choice
between it and the DA16-45, I think I'd find it more to my liking. I
have the FA28-105/3.2-4.5, which is comparable in many way at lower
cost ... but there have been times when I really missed the 24-90's
wider field of view at the short end, and the 24-90 is considered a
better performer wide-open at the longest focal lengths.

How good is the DA 16-45 lens? Is it worth the extra $ purchasing
this over the 18-55 or would the FA 24-90 be a better choice?
