Recently the gaping holes in the fossil records have caused some strains of evolutionary scientists to suggest that life did not evolve gradually but in leaps and bounds and spurts. That is an idea for sure, but one that again has no proof other than 'it must be so because we deny the existence of an intelligent creator'.

I, for one, don't think that this theory negates the existence of an intelligent creator, do you? As a point of interest? I'm not arguing in favour of the theory. Actually, neither does the theory that species evolve from other species -- not that I think they do. Nor does the theory of a five-billion-year-old Earth negate the existence of an intelligent creator existing outside of Time. I've had some issues with some very religious people on that one. Meanwhile, I do wish all the nonbelievers in the world (at the moment, I'd settle for the list) were as *tolerant* and respectful of the views of believers as Frank is!
