Then I think you ought to go back and check those figures again. The dpreview specifications show 0.95x (& 95%) for the D and DS. A first read of the DS2/DL/DL2 specifications doesn't seem to give a numeric value at all for viewfinder magnification, but the figures that Adam quotes match my recollection, too.
Viewfiner magnification is always quoted for a 50mm lens, without compensating for the different angle of view of various sensor sizes.
