I put together one presentation with my PAW 2005 gallery images. If you want to give it a try and give me some feedback, take a look at
  http://www.gdgphoto.com/PAW2005/
It does use Flash, but hopefully you'll find it tasteful.

Doesn't work for me. Sound sputters, screen shows a couple-three pics than
remains black. Oh well ... maybe it's not dial-up friendly.

Yes, it requires broadband bandwidth. I haven't found anything that does a decent job of presenting AV with a dialup connection, at least not without hanging around for a very long time waiting for the data to download. This is a "small" photo presentation and constitutes about 7Mbytes of compressed images and sound. It's not a replacement for a still image web gallery.

It's beautiful, Godfrey - it really adds a dimention - at least!
I often wnted to thry this myself.
But tell me, how do you handle the Copyright/Coda issue ? Is it you playing
and singing?

Thanks Jens.

LOL ... That's certainly not *ME* singing and playing.

This test isn't going to up for long. I'm unsure of the details as yet, but for anything that I'm going to put up as part of my work I'll have to make the judgement as to whether it constitutes Fair Use or otherwise requires a contract for permissions.

I've skimmed this and found it reasonably useful as a starting point:

Godders - love the idea but the mixes (dissolves) between shots are far
too fast! ...
You may also find that when putting images (still or otherwise) to
music, there is no formula. ...
I once edited a series of 4 minute news items on a UK picture agency
(Popperfoto) that included many stills images and editing them to music was one of the hardest, yet one of the most rewarding things I've ever done.

I agree completely and thank you for the comments! This particular presentation was simply a test-demo to see how the generator worked: I grabbed my entire PAW 2005 image gallery, added leader and trailer image pages, and integrated it with "Colorblind" with no other editing ... mostly I was looking to see how it played for others. The software (SoundSlides) allows varying the timing for each frame to coordinate with the music or with a custom audio track, which is really what I plan to do with this idea.

My brother's in music production so we might collaborate on these things at some point.

Seems to work quite well however the track (naturally) has a fairly obvious left channel bias (piano) which was a little off-putting initially, I don't know if altering the channel balance would be viable but for anyone who's not familiar with the track it's a bit strange. Also the musical attribution should
read "Counting Crows".

Thanks for the correction. I'll likely not bother to correct it as I don't think I'll have this one up there for more than today. It's served the purpose of my test. :-)

Godfrey, it's wonderful!
I agree with Cotty though, just as I begin to "get into" one
of the photos, it quickly disolves to the next.
I feel myself rushing to see the pic before it's gone, which
doesn't quite fit with the lovely Counting Crows tune.
Keep at it, it's a great start.

Thanks Don!
