I can't help but wonder why the names of the lenses would be so
important.
Focal length data ... yes, that's important to me. But the name of
the lens is something I never look at.

Well, I'm not sure if it is the firmware or Pentax Photo Browser
that cannot recognize the names of more recent lenses, such as the
DA 40 and the D FA 50 Macro. Maybe it is both.
