Well, it would be nice to have a name that's pronouncable so you can tell people what your camera is called when they ask. That's always been the biggest problem with the *ist name.
Adam, since when Pentax is not pronounceable??? I think even I can pronounce it reasonably clear.
In fact, I think that outside of Pentax realm, no-one really knows the subtle differences between *istD and all its siblings... Usually, if I tell people that my photo gear of choice is Pentax branded, it suffices...
Godfrey, I am with you at this time. You're absolutely right - if you have this very camera in your hands, it absolutely does not matter what is its name...
