Impotant to whom?
I was ansewering a question about recommending the *ist D  for action shots
of skaters.
I can't recommend the *ist D for this.The write speed alone will be a huge
problem. 8 secs. per shot. That's not action. That's a PITA!
The AF and FPS isn't making this any better.
If I could recommend the *ist D, I could have recommended using ANY camera
with no shutter lag.

I find it virtually irrelevant to my photography. Probably 99.9% of
the time I have my camera set to single shot mode, and I use manual
focus quite a bit.

The Sony R1 I bought only has a two-frame buffer when capturing RAW,
and takes 9 seconds to write a RAW file and free the buffer for a
third shot after the buffer is full. I haven't found it to be any
detraction at all, nor the supposedly "slow" AF in low light.

Important to some is not important to all.
