Exactly. It is speculation, but there are some traces that can lead to such
a conclusion :-)

Well, for me introducing new pro-grade USM equipped f2.8 zooms together with
new higher class DSLR makes sense. If they have ANY plans to introduce USM
driven lenses why wasting resources to build traditionally screw driven
expensive lenses which are usually not changed by newer models that often???
Of course these lenses can have traditional AF drive, but that would mean
that USM driven ones won't apear soon. Another small clue is that they
haven't shown mount of new D, and AF-C/AF-S/MF switch has radically
different build and this is a part of AF system in Pentax camera. Nothing
that could convince me that USM will come, but... ;-)
