That I'd argue, their FF glass has been excellent for many years, it was great in both performance and build, as good as any other manufacturer was producing. Maybe the bodies weren't as top end but hell they were only a box for your film back then, if you weren't into gadgets they were OK. Unfortunately this isn't so in the DSLR age, the body is far more important than it used to be for obvious reasons. I just can't help think that Pentax's development resources could have been more wisely utilized both in the original MZ-D development and of late the 645D project. They obviously had enough cash that they could have done far more with the K-mount line cameras than they have and a lot sooner.
