Not that Tokina, can't make great lenses. We just shouldn't be
referring to it as "Pentax glass".
Tokina made a number of the Minolta Maxxum/Dynax lenses in the past
when Minolta's own capacity could not keep up with demand. They
probably do OEM work for others, as well.
I'd be interested to see the color balance of these lenses. Tokina
seems to design to a native color balance that is quite cool to my
eye. Every Tokina lens I have ever tested has had this
characteristic and made me want to run screaming for a warming
filter. That was the only complaint I ever heard about the lenses
they made for Minolta, that they were cooler than actual Minolta glass.
