Every camera maker has been doing this for decades. Tokina made one of Nikon's pro telephoto lenses as well as many of their lens mounts and consumer zooms in the '90s.

Pentax's 28-200 was a Tamron, wasn't it?

That's one of the reasons why brand loyalty is more or less a thing of the
past. IMO.  Aren't a number of the P&S digitals actually a Sanyo product?

Not that Tokina, can't make great lenses. We just shouldn't be referring to
it as "Pentax glass".
