I had one of those in screw mount. Not a bad lens, but very heavy and
of course quite slow. I sold it to a guy in Siberia for $200 US.
Shipped it USPS. He escaped import duties.

Nobody got any info or opinions on the Tamron 200-500/6,9?
What I know is that it is an oldie, in a nice looking velvet suitcase.
The
buyer knows nothing of what he/she is selling. From the photo it seems
mint
cosmetically.
The former Norwegian Tamron distributor sayd it probably is a nice
lens, but
he sounded like an "enthusiast", praising the products on regular
basis.

Subject: Advice on long glass for, "photodoc on beachbirds"
I have a project I want to do. (I think I have mentioned in another
post.)
What I want to do is to make a photo documentary about the beach
birds in
my
neighbourhood. My community is changing. Money talks and the local
birds
are
not able to talk for themselves. If somebody doesn't speak up for
them,
their daily bread will be under money making machines (read shopping
malls)
very soon.
We (those who want to preserve the bird's area) have registered 27
different
specimens. But knowing they are there is one thing, being able to show
them
to people is another.
To do this I need some long glass. The thing is that I'm on a tight
budget.
I have found a long old zoom at ebay. Looks like it will go cheap,
real
cheap. If it's any good, it looks like a bargain. It is a Tamron
200-500/6,9. Most likely it is an adapt-all lens. Does anybody know
what I
can expect from this beast? It looks like it is in very good
condition.
I have also found a Pentax M400/5,6. The seller asks 550USD. Believe
I can
talk him down a bit. Hope I can get him down to 300USD. Does that
sound
like
a reasonable price?
I have also been looking for a Tokina 400/5,6. I haven't been able to
find
any with k-mount.
Ok. That’s my project, and ideas on how to make it come true. Does
anybody
have anything to add?
