That's unfortunate, are we talking the early lenses?
I got my first 24 f/2.8 mid eighties, great performer, never had a problem,
still have it. I use the 16mm f/2.8 fisheye, same as above. Both manual focus.
Since AF I have 105 f2.8 EX Macro - excellent, 300 f/4 APO - excellent, both
EX TC's - excellent, and just got the 70-200 f/2.8 EX APO - not tried it,
weather is atrocious here. Never returned one, never any complaint and not
had a fault with any yet. Oh! the paint markings wear off the barrel after
extended use on the manual focus lenses, but that's it.

I've got the 24/2.8 in N-AIS mount, good performer, if not up to the
Nikkor in AI-S (Nikkor has CRC, which is a major advantage over the more
traditional design of the Sigma).
