While talking with Marco last night at Godfrey's show (VERY nicely done, BTW - and Godders is a fine host), he mentioned that he was playing around with a Beta version of Adobe Lightroom. The program is not yet available for Windows, and I'm wondering if any other Mac users have been using it, and what comments you may have. From all I've read, it seems that it might be a very fine adjunct to Photoshop, or maybe even a replacement for it for
photographers. Any thoughts?

Thanks Shel. It was a fun evening for sure!

I've been using Lightroom only lightly so far as I've had a lot of work to get out. It's risky to depend upon a beta quality application when you have to get the work done!

That said, it looks to be a good melding of the right features of Bridge and Camera Raw, with extensions giving it some more Data Access Management oomph. That is, it provides good ways to sort and manage sessions, develop collections, and set up RAW processing. It does NOT replace Photoshop for editing the RAW converted image. It does include some very good looking B&W conversion routines built in ... I might experiment with them.

The workflow is quite different from what I've developed with Bridge/ Camera Raw/Photoshop integration so it will take a bit to work out the best way to get things done, and whether it is truly the right direction to go in for me.
