Aperture will not install on a Power Mac G4 DP at all, unless you
hack the installer.
The Lightroom project may or may not have been a response to
Aperture, although its early push to a public beta certainly was.
Given the quality of the public beta, I'd say it started right about
the time that the Aperture project started up, in late 2003- early
2004. Most likely parallel development as pro-class photographic
workflow became the visible, obvious target that Adobe and Apple both
went shooting for.

So if I understand all this correctly, if I wanted to run Aperture
on my old G4 dual 867, the best upgrade I could make would be a
kickass video card?
Does it make sense that Lightroom has been released to battle
Aperture, to try to maintain Adobe's dominance in the photographic
world?
