Why the heck? How can this be different from putting an adapter on
camera, a 5p cord attached onto it and a flash unit at the other end of

They don't want the trigger voltage of two flash units going past the
flash circuit in the camera, for obvious reasons.
I'm not yet convinced, for two reasons:
1 - A single flash units is not allowed, if connected via adapter F. They
don't say you cannot use two flash units. They say you can't use a flash
unit above the adapter above the camera. In other words, apparently you
cannot put the adapter between the flash and the camera hot shoe,
irrespectively of other flashes, adapters and cords being or not being
connected to the adapter.
2 - On the other hand, they allow you to use two or more flash units,
provided that they are all remoted.
