When it comes to equipment, I live in the present tense. I buy what does the job I want now ...
not what might someday in the future, or what did some day in the past.

The present is what pays the rent.

For most of us the equipment doesn't pay for anything. Possibly why we have a little different perspective.

Some of us are happy with what we have. Some of us are stuck with what we have. Others like myself view it as an expenditure that will likely never be recouped. If I'm going to spend a significant amount on camera gear in the future I want to spend it as few times as possible, if that makes any kind of sense.
