Here are my assigned comments for the August gallery
(this time kind of short because I am leaving tomorrow
for a vacation trip, sorry about that).

Kevin Thornsberrys Hot Tungsten: since I havent
practiced macro photography (yet) I can only admire
this kind of shots. And shooting a light source
appears really challenging. The result is a
mysterius abstract form, and the reflection helps to
enhance this effect.
Dark pictures are always dangerous to scan, and I am
sure that there will be more detail in the dark parts
in the original pictures.

Steve Larsons Harbor Lights: it is an interesting
subject to shoot, but i would have chosen another
focal length, or a closer point of view. To me, the
most interesting part is the one with the masts
silhouettes, thanks to the yellow light from the back.
I would have concentrated on this. One of the reasons
is that there is a lot of darkness in the foreground.
Actually, this is the difficulty of the picture, the
big difference between the dark foreground and the
lights in the background.
Anyway, you should be happy considering that your were
prepared to shoot fireworks !!

John Cohens Spectrum: I think that the picture is
technically successful (a little bit by chance, based
on what you said). The face is well defined there is
no disturbing from the background (what about a
portrait format?). It is just that the subject did not
get my interest. Maybe with the spectrum covering a
bigger surface of the face... I am not sure, but at
the beginning I saw the spectrum more as a disturbing
thing than as the subject.
Anyway, this is not a study photo and you used what
you had at that moment. Keep investigating on this
effect and tell us.
Nice !!.

Well, thats all for this month, sorry for not having
more time.
