Much of what you say is true, however, the post didn't mention
what the final product would be used for. If the final result is
for the internet, the larger image size is wasted.
My recommendation would be to perfect the technical aspects on
small format, which is cheap to use, especially since he already
has equipment in that format, then move to larger equipment as
the need arises.
I have found that learning photography is the hard part,
learning to use a new format is pretty easy.
A post a while back mentioned that the poster was still (after
nearly two years) learning how to use his 67II. I just don't see
how this can be possible, if the person new anything about
photography to begin with.
Anyway, back to my tent now....
