Thanks for commenting. I'm glad you find the photo interesting - that is precisely the quality I look for in photos.
On clichés, I take the same view as George Orwell which is that they are generally a substitute for thinking. He was discussing writing, but I think it applies equally to photography. Orwell wrote a very interesting essay about it, which you can read here if you like: http://www.mtholyoke.edu/acad/intrel/orwell46.htm Many of his ideas were worked out in '1984' as Nuspeak. The composition and dullness in the photo are intentional.
