Thought that might be true. Canon only uses SD in a couple of very
recent models.

High quality, fast SD cards are now easily available in 1 and 2 Gbyte
capacities at very reasonable prices. Don't buy anything larger than
2G cards at present, they're not officially supported yet. (You need
the firmware update to use 2G cards.)

PENTAX *istDS FIRMWARE UPDATE VERSION 2.00

CHANGES Version 2.00:
- "Continuous AF" mode has been added to the AF settings in the Record
   Mode menu.

- "Auto ISO" has been added to the sensitivity modes.

- "AE-L button on M" has been added to the Custom Function menu. If
selected, AE-L button provides automatic exposure while in manual
   exposure mode.

- The effect level of the digital soft filters can now be selected
   from weak, middle or strong.

- Dutch and Swedish have been added to the language options.

- A sample picture will now be displayed in the LCD monitor when
   selecting Picture modes.

- Unavailable menu items will now appear in gray.

(PDF, 323kb)

CHANGES Version 1.02:
- Contains everything from previous versions of the firmware.

- Support for SD cards larger than 1GB.

CHANGES Version 1.01:
- Extra-long exposure times, such as those used for astronomical
photography, have been known to generate some green noise in an image
when noise reduction is turned on. This phenomenon will only occur
under specific shooting conditions (e.g. a starry night sky), and not
in general use. Version 1.01 of the firmware will minimize this noise
as much as possible for those who use the *istDS for this purpose.
  ----

Essentially, the Firmware v2.0 upgrade makes a *ist DS body
functionally and operationally the same as a *ist DS2 body. As a
matter of fact, to get the best feel for the differences, download
and compare the DS and DS2 instruction manuals (also available from
the Pentax USA website).
