The update does a couple of important things, it add AF-C to the
P/Tv/Av/M modes from the shooting menu. (You can set the AF/M switch to
AF-S/M or AF-C/M in other words), a nice feature to have. It also
allows use of cards up 2gb in size, another nice feature. I upgraded my
Ds the day I received it so I don't remember exactly, but I think it
changes all of the images displayed when you select more information
about any mode when it's selected, (I didn't think this was earth
shakingly important, but it does change them). Any other changes it
makes aren't readily apparent to me.
