Call it snobbism if you like. I'm a sucker for purity of design. What I hate in a
camera is the philosophy of putting as much a possible in a camera without concern for
size, weight and usability and then use the cheapest material possible in order to
save cost. I like focused goals and the use of any means it takes to reach that goal.
The painting process of the MZ-S shows that Pentax isn't shy of spending resources for
reaching their design goals and thats a good thing. I don't see that its more snobby
wanting durable and solid finish than, say, wanting mechanical shutters of 46 AF
points or USM. For me at least, a durable body is high on my priority list since I'm
hard on my equipment. Some prefer black camera and some prefer them chrome. Maybe its
snobism but why its more so than wanting them eg green is beyond me.
