I gave a comparative response. I didn't like the first one very much because I thought the manipulation looked very odd and fake. The second looks much better.
You came across wanting a critique on the manipulation, rather than the picture as a whole. You've already indicated that you are rather so-so on this one. As to the second shot, I can see a line coming across from the left that looks like a film scratch. There are a bunch of dust spots that should be cleaned up (boy I remember dealing with that from scans!). The image for me is medium - not great, but not a stinker.
