I do defend them and their right to be a crackpot ... when they're on their own time. When they're being paid to teach, it's another story. He can say, believe, publish, photograph, ..., whatever he wants when he's not instructing his students. When he is instructing his students, however, the standards are different. Having a crackpot in for a seminar occasionally is one thing.
