I started out in acedemia in public funded projects and programs. Later I funded many college projects/programs world wide.. It was not my general experience that academics derserve consideration in the public funding arena.. There are always exceptions, but, in my experience, the exceptions are seldom dependant on "public funding" to deliver their message..... so to speak. And, I will always defend a tax payer's previledge to offer guidance at to how public funds are spent ... especially at the polls. Of course, this is just one person's opinion..........
