I think it's very "CHEAP" for what customers can get.  Pentax obviously went
for the most bang for the money using existing component and some.  When
people see good product at the very competitive price, they stash out the
money.  I think it's that simple as far as the K100D is concerned.  You
cannot argue with the success :-).
Just a few years ago, there were enough doubters that Pentax could even
offer any DSLR.  Then they declared that digital era is the opportunity, and
started rather "un-Pentax like" effort to be bolder in offering new and
excellent products.  Now they are closing in and even competing with N/C in
certain market segment, and it appears that more fun would be coming.  Good
for them, and good for us :-).
For those who really go for the price alone, there is K110D.
