I don't know if it's digital or analog, but it's getting into the
ultraviolet for the exposure wavelengths to accommodate the teeny tiny
feature sizes they're achieving on some ICs.  I doubt this applies to
imaging sensors, though, because their features tend to be very large as
those things go.
