I see nothing wrong with that. I turn over old equipment for newer equipment that poses an advantage for my use all the time. I just don't see what the point of equating value with dollars is or posting a pronouncement that this is a "caution about aging technology". - If the old equipment does what you need, what it's "worth" is not a monetary value. - If the new equipment is what you want or need, buy it and sell off the old stuff for what you can get if you need the extra money.
