You've seen and handled both the D & DS, how much different are they WRT size? Of the *ist range the only other one I've handled is the DL & I didn't think it was that much smaller. IMO the only dimension of the camera in which you save space in replacing CF with SD is in it's depth, as the camera can't get much smaller height wise.
