If it is at least as efficient as my Canon 10D is, it will get substantially more than 500 exposures without the flash. The figure is based on 50% flash usage. I regularly used to get 800-900 exposures per charge with the 10D, and that's 2002 technology. The Sony R1, with a full time live preview or EVF, is running about 1200 exposures per full charge now ... and a smaller battery!
