But in the field, it's a life-saver. Wireless sync bloody well rocks, as long as you have a commander option to go with the master option (commander allows you to use the RTF only to command the wireless slaves, but not to add to the exposure). Nikon also makes an IR filter for RTF flashes to prevent them from adding to the exposure when in Master mode.
