USPS are among the least expensive money orders.  You pay a premium for 
the illusion of security.  The bank I used to deal with offered free MOs 
and certified cashiers checks if you maintained a hight enough combined 
balance, otherwise the MOs were about $8.00 each.  I think the premium 
on certified checks was even higher.  The USPS charges $1.50.
