We can do them as a standard electronic transaction using internet  
banking.  I just checked my bank's website - bank transfers done via  
internet banking are free of charge.

I have an old account still active at another bank (mainly for the  
credit card); they charge NZ$0.40 for transfers, but I suspect you'd  
get transaction fees waived if you have a mortgage with them (proper  
competition is good; if only our telcos were like that).

Sending money overseas is entirely different, though.  The last time  
I did this I just bought the foreign currency and posted cash (it was  
only a small amount).  Normally I prefer to use the credit card or  
PayPal, as the bank fees tend to be quite high.
