Interesting. Our banks decided during the 90s that keeping branches open was too costly, so they closed pretty much everything outside of major urban centres, and did a pretty serious downsizing of what was left. There was an uproar, but it was basically ignored. To encourage us to use machines, we're charged $3.00 for teller transactions, while machine transactions are often free. Around 10 years ago I needed a bank cheque written so I went to the closest branch, and they had a staff member in the waiting area whose job it was to ask people why they need to use a teller instead of the machine on the outside wall. I'd have found that job pretty demoralising, as it's encouraging the customers to give the bank a reason to downsize you and your colleagues... - Dave -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
